Luarca, baptized by its captivation as the White Villa of the Green Coast, it was born probably as fishermen's refuge, for what it owes to the sea its origin and part of its sustenance. Of this form, the river and the sea not only they have chiselled the privileged landscape, also they have forged, with the step of the centuries, the deep seaworthy and riverside vocation that is an indissoluble part of the life of the villa.
Luarca's port was long ago one small village opened the sea, where the Black river was producing its waters to the Cantabrian one, ado natural defenses that the bank of the Llera.
In spite of its tortuous history, the festive events have in Valdés an out-standing significance, simultaneously that a peculiar character.
